No Traffic Conflicts Over the Tracks – Trakcja S.A. Delivers a Landmark Road Project in Starachowice
We have completed an important road investment in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship – the construction of a viaduct over railway line no. 25 in Starachowice. The project, carried out by Trakcja S.A., included not only the construction of the bridge structure, but also a comprehensive modernisation of the road system in this part of the city – the reconstruction of the Rev. Jerzy Popiełuszko roundabout, the expansion of access roads, pavements, cycle paths and underground infrastructure.
The contract, carried out under the “Build” formula, was signed on 16 May 2023 with the County Road Authority in Starachowice (Zarząd Dróg Powiatowych w Starachowicach). The original value of the contract was more than PLN 70 million gross, however as a result of the expansion of the scope of work and the extension of the completion date (to 29 August 2025), the total cost of the investment reached more than PLN 91 million gross. The investment resulted in a steel-arch viaduct 67 m long, with full road, cycling and pedestrian infrastructure, as well as modern illumination. Radomska, Hutnicza, Wielkopiecowa and Kanałowa streets were also rebuilt, and the city’s first turbo roundabout was built.
Thanks to the grade-separated crossing over the railway tracks, residents have gained faster and safer access to the western districts and the Starachowice Special Economic Zone S.A. (Specjalna Strefa Ekonomiczna Starachowice S.A.), which opens up new opportunities for local business and investors.
During the official opening of the investment (28 August 2025), Member of the Management Board, Technical Director of Trakcja S.A., Bartłomiej Cygan, highlighted the good cooperation between the Local Government and the Contractor, expressed pride in a job well done from an engineering perspective, and thanked the Employer and the Trakcja team involved in carrying out the task.
The construction of the viaduct in Starachowice is further proof that Trakcja S.A. successfully combines competences in the railway, road and network sectors, carrying out strategic investments throughout Poland.
