PLN 1.58 Billion for the Modernisation of the Otwock Line – Trakcja S.A. with a New Contract
14 October 2025 a consortium of Trakcja S.A. and Intop Warszawa Sp. z o.o. signed a contract with PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. for construction works on railway line no. 7 on the Warszawa Wawer – Otwock section. The contract value is approx. PLN 1.58 billion gross, and its implementation will last until 2028.
The aim of the investment is, among others, the separation of long-distance traffic from commuter traffic, which will improve train punctuality and shorten the journey time between Warsaw and Lublin thanks to raising the speed to 160 km/h.
The modernisation of the Otwock line is for us something more than another contract – it is an honour and a responsibility. We are continuing work on line no. 7, a section of which – from Warszawa Wschodnia to Warszawa Wawer – we had already modernised earlier as general contractor. Today we are returning to this historic route to give it a new quality that meets the needs of the 21st century. It is a line that for generations has connected people, places and memories – now it also connects our strategy, competencies and ambitions. We are proud that we can restore its importance by building a safe, punctual and comfortable railway that will serve residents for decades to come . — Stefan Bekir Assanowicz, President of the Management Board of Trakcja S.A.
The scope of works includes, among others:
the construction of two additional tracks,
