Grade-Separated Over the Tracks – Trakcja S.A. Delivered a Key Road Project in Starachowice
We have completed an important road project in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship – the construction of a viaduct over railway line no. 25 in Starachowice. The project, delivered by Trakcja S.A., covered not only the construction of the bridge structure but also a comprehensive modernisation of the road layout in this part of the city – the reconstruction of the Fr. Jerzy Popiełuszko Roundabout, the extension of access streets, pavements, cycle paths and underground infrastructure.
The contract, delivered under the “Build” formula, was signed on 16 May 2023 with the County Roads Authority in Starachowice (Zarząd Dróg Powiatowych w Starachowicach). The original contract value was more than PLN 70 million gross, but as a result of the extension of the scope of works and of the completion date (to 29 August 2025), the total cost of the project reached more than PLN 91 million gross. The project produced a 67 m steel arch viaduct, with full road, cycling and pedestrian infrastructure, as well as modern illumination. Radomska, Hutnicza, Wielkopiecowa and Kanałowa streets were also rebuilt, and the city’s first turbo roundabout was built.
Thanks to the grade-separated crossing over the railway tracks, residents have gained faster and safer access to the western districts and to the Starachowice Special Economic Zone S.A. (Specjalna Strefa Ekonomiczna Starachowice S.A.), which opens up new opportunities for local business and investors.
During the official opening of the project (28.08.2025), Member of the Management Board, Technical Director of Trakcja S.A., Bartłomiej Cygan, emphasised the good cooperation between the local government and the Contractor, expressed pride in well-executed engineering work and thanked the Contracting Authority and the Trakcja team involved in delivering the task.
The construction of the viaduct in Starachowice is further proof that Trakcja S.A. effectively combines competencies in the railway, road and network areas, delivering strategic projects across Poland.
