We Will Revitalise the Line on the Sokołów Podlaski – Siedlce Section

On 10 October 2023, PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. signed a contract for the preparation of design documentation and the execution of construction works in the “Design and Build” formula for the project entitled “Revitalisation of the railway line on the Sokołów Podlaski – Siedlce section”.

The reconstruction of the line, which will connect Sokołów Podlaski with Siedlce, will contribute to the development of the region and improve living conditions for local residents. Thanks to the investment, travel time between Sokołów Podlaski and Siedlce will be 30 minutes, and from Sokołów to Warsaw 120 and 90 minutes for stopping and semi-fast trains respectively. The project provides for the modernisation of nearly 30 km of track, including 26 level crossings and 12 turnouts, the construction and reconstruction of eight stations and stops, the suspension of more than 36 km of overhead contact line and the construction of two substations.

The platforms at stations and stops will be adapted for people with reduced mobility, and the appropriate platform height will make it easier for passengers to board and alight from trains. The project provides for the construction of shelters, the installation of benches, information boards and energy-efficient lighting.

The task, worth PLN 231.5 million net, is being delivered by the consortium: ZRK-DOM in Poznań, Trakcja S.A.

Design work, including obtaining the necessary administrative decisions, is scheduled until 2027, while construction works are to start at the turn of 2027/2028.
