On 27 May 2024, representatives of Trakcja and the Podlaskie Voivodeship Roads Authority in Białystok (Podlaski Zarząd Dróg Wojewódzkich w Białymstoku) signed a contract worth more than PLN 77 million gross for works related to the “Construction of the Kolno bypass along voivodeship road no. 647”. The scope of the entire construction project includes the construction of the Kolno bypass along DW647, the basic element of which is a single-carriageway section of voivodeship road no. 647 approx. 5.6 km long. The project will create the necessary road infrastructure and engineering structures: • 5.6 km of voivodeship road on a new alignment; • 2 bridge structures over the Łabna river; • 3 roundabout-type junctions; • roads serving adjacent areas; • pedestrian and cycle paths; • road culverts.
The water supply and sewerage, sanitary, power and telecommunications networks will be reconstructed, and the roads and roundabouts will receive new lighting. The new infrastructure will make travel around the region easier, reduce traffic in the town centre, and provide an alternative route that will allow drivers to avoid urban congestion, which will translate into environmental protection through lower exhaust and noise emissions and an improved quality of life for residents.
The works will take 16 months, excluding winter periods.
