We Will Design and Rebuild the Tram Track in Bydgoszcz

On 20 February 2024, Trakcja S.A. and the City of Bydgoszcz – Municipal Roads and Public Transport Authority in Bydgoszcz (Zarząd Dróg Miejskich i Komunikacji Publicznej w Bydgoszczy) concluded a contract for the execution of works under the task: “Reconstruction of the tram track on ul. Toruńska on the section from ul. Kazimierza Wielkiego to the MZK depot”, the total maximum value of which may reach nearly PLN 107 million net.

The planned reconstruction of the Bydgoszcz tram track is a continuation of the works carried out by our Company relating to the construction of new bridges (tram and road) over the Brda river, together with the expansion of the road system and the reconstruction of rail transport infrastructure in Bydgoszcz.

The subject of the new contract is the design and then reconstruction of the tram track along ul. Toruńska from al. Kaczyńskiego to the last entrance to the MZK depot. The order has been divided into a basic task, which covers the reconstruction of a tram track approx. 1.425 km long in double track (approx. 2.85 km of single track), and an optional order, which independently covers two sections: from the Toruńskie roundabout to ul. Spokojna and from the MZK depot to the Stomil terminus loop.

The full scope of the documentation provides for a track 8.805 km long in single track.

Trakcja will rebuild the tram track together with the stop infrastructure, crossings and passages across the track, the road layout where it conflicts with the tram track, the road surface in the area of the tram turnouts, the overhead contact line, power supply, drainage, a substation and lighting.

Thanks to the reconstruction and modernisation of the tram infrastructure, Bydgoszcz residents will gain new shelters and modern passenger information systems and will be able to enjoy better ride comfort thanks to a smooth journey on the new surface at speeds of up to 50 km/h.

22 months from the date of signing the contract have been planned for improving the functioning of the public transport system, and 10 months for the preparation of the design documentation.
