Finishing works have begun on the pedestrian tunnel at Łódź Widzew station. The station canopy over three platforms is already complete. Construction of the last platform is nearing completion.
Trakcja PRKiI S.A. has started the finishing works on the passenger underpass – plastering of the walls and lift shafts is nearing completion, as is the installation of services. In April, the installation of lifts and stone cladding on the stairs will begin. On the station-building side, the tunnel will be accessed by a ramp and stairs, while the platform will be reached by stairs and a lift. In this way, the facility will be adapted for people with limited mobility. The canopy over the platforms and the lighting above the two platforms currently used for passenger service are already fully ready. The installation of the last of the 2,600 platform structure elements has been completed, and on the last platform paving-block surfacing, lighting installation and the fitting of passenger information are under way. The existing platform no. 1 adjacent to the station building will be revitalised and fenced off from the tracks, as a result of which passenger service will be fully transferred to the new, roofed part of the station. Prompt issuing of administrative decisions will make it possible to open all platforms to passengers as early as September.
