TRAKCJA PRKiI to Deliver Prestigious Wrocław Project
Trakcja PRKiI will build two new arch bridges in Wrocław in 24 months for PLN 70 million. On 7 May this year, the Company signed a contract with Inwestycje Wrocławskie sp. z o.o., representing the municipality of Wrocław.
The new Chrobry Bridges (Mosty Chrobrego), with their beautiful arch structure, will fit perfectly into Wrocław’s historic architecture and the nearby Szczytnicki Park. They will delight Wrocław residents in just 24 months.
The two new Chrobry Bridges – North and South – are a composite structure with arch-shaped spans. Together they will be approx. 229 m long. They will connect Zalesie and Sępolno with Swojczyce. The South Bridge over the Flood Relief Canal, 154 m long, is a continuous, multi-span steel structure consisting of two arches, each with a span of 54 m, and a girder span of 25 m, with a slab load-bearing deck and reinforced concrete abutments. The North Bridge over the Navigation Canal, 75 m long, is a single-span steel structure with an arch span of 52 m, with a slab load-bearing deck and reinforced concrete abutments and piers.
The complexity of the project stems, among other things, from its multi-disciplinary nature – the contract covers the construction of two new bridges along voivodeship road No. 455, which is an important transport route, as well as its extension from the intersection with ul. Monte Cassino to the intersection with ul. Mydlana, including design, bridge, road, utility network, traction works, etc. The crowning touch of the works will be spectacular illumination of the project, which will highlight the unique atmosphere of Wrocław.
Trakcja PRKiI is highly qualified thanks to its very extensive experience in delivering bridge structures. In more than 70 years of operation, it has built several hundred such structures. Recent projects include the bridge over the Działdówka river, whose shape corresponds to the Chrobry Bridges, two bridges in Zbąszynek with a span of 40 m each, a viaduct in Klęczany on national road No. 4 with a span of 62 m, and a 7-span flyover 186 m long in Sędziszów Małopolski. In 2012–2015, as part of construction works on the railway line on the Wrocław Grabiszyn – Skokowa section, 10 railway bridges, 14 railway viaducts and 1 road viaduct were built. The works included, among others, the demolition and construction of a railway bridge over the Oder in Wrocław in the Popowice station area, and the reconstruction of railway viaducts over ul. Grabiszyńska and ul. Popowicka. Trakcja PRKiI was the General Contractor and the consortium leader of this project.
