Stefan Bekir Assanowicz Appointed President of the Management Board of Trakcja

The Supervisory Board of Trakcja S.A., following the conclusion of the qualification procedure for the position of President of the Management Board, adopted a resolution appointing Mr Stefan Bekir Assanowicz as Member of the Management Board of the Company and entrusting him with the function of President of the Management Board, with effect from 2 December 2024.

Mr Stefan Bekir Assanowicz graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology in 1974. He began his career at the KOLPROJEKT Design Office and from 1978 at PRK-15 in Warsaw, advancing to Technical Director in the Deep Foundation Branch. In 1979 – 1982 he worked at PEBK DROMEX in Libya as Manager of the Bridge Works Group, and then as Deputy General Director for technical affairs. In 1986 he became Director of DROMEX Libya.

In 1989-1994 he worked at BUDIMEX S.A. as Director of the Africa/Asia Office and Commercial Director. In 1995 he took the position of Development Director of the Lafarge Group, introducing the company to the Polish market.

In 1999-2007 he was Vice-President of the Management Board for Development of BUDIMEX S.A., and then President of the Management Board following the merger with DROMEX S.A.. From 2008 to 2012 he served as President of the Management Board of ZBM Inwestor Zastępczy S.A., overseeing road and motorway contracts for EURO 2012. He later founded the company PROINFRA-EKO, operating in the area of infrastructure investments and environmental protection.

He also worked for Construcciones Rubau S.A., creating RUBAU Polska Sp. z o.o. and serving as President of its Management Board until 2022. He improved his qualifications through postgraduate studies at the SGH in Warsaw and INSEAD in France. He holds qualifications in structural design, management and supervision of works, as well as a third-degree Mining Director qualification.

Mr Assanowicz has received numerous decorations, including the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta and the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Civil Merit from the King of Spain. He is fluent in English, French, Spanish and Russian.

He is Vice-President of the Polish Chamber of Commerce (Krajowa Izba Gospodarcza), President of the Council of the Polish-Spanish Chamber of Commerce, President of the Management Board of the Mazovian Branch of the Union of Tatars of the Republic of Poland, and founder of the Association of Graduates and Friends of the Warsaw University of Technology.

In 2012-2013 he served as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Guatemala in Warsaw.
