Passenger Services Will Return Between Skierniewice and Czachówek. Trakcja Will Modernise Another Section of Line No. 12
Safer railways, smoother train traffic and more comfortable journeys – Trakcja S.A., as the consortium leader with Sarinż Sp. z o.o., will modernise railway line no. 12 on the Skierniewice – Czachówek Wschodni section. Today the company signed a contract with PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. for the project. On the 64-kilometre section, more than 132 km of tracks will be rebuilt, 72 new turnouts will be installed, and passengers will gain 18 modern platforms. The contract value is around PLN 1.5 billion, and completion of the works is planned for 2029.
This is another large railway project carried out by Trakcja in central Poland. In recent days the company, as a consortium member, also signed a contract for the modernisation of another section of line no. 12, Czachówek Wschodni – Pilawa, together with the construction of a new double-track railway bridge over the Vistula in Góra Kalwaria. Both projects will contribute to improving traffic conditions on railway line no. 12 and increasing the capacity of Warsaw’s railway bypass.
One of the most important effects of the project will be the restoration of regular passenger services between Skierniewice and Czachówek, including to Mszczonów. The modernisation will include a comprehensive reconstruction of the railway infrastructure, which will enable smoother traffic and increase the reliability of passenger and freight services.
An important part of the task will be the construction and reconstruction of 87 engineering structures, including bridge structures, viaducts, culverts and underpasses beneath the tracks. New viaducts and underpasses will reduce the need to cross the tracks at rail level, improving the safety of residents, drivers and travellers. The modernisation of bridge structures and culverts will, in turn, increase the durability and reliability of the entire route.
Passengers can also expect major changes. As part of the project, 18 new platforms will be built, equipped with, among other things, shelters, benches, lighting and modern passenger information systems. The infrastructure will be adapted to the needs of people with reduced mobility, parents travelling with children and passengers with larger luggage.
Works will be carried out, among other places, at the Puszcza Mariańska, Mszczonów and Tarczyn stations and at the Długokąty, Grabce, Grzegorzewice, Jeżewice, Gąski and Prażmów stops. At Mszczonów station, a new signal box will also be built, ensuring safe and efficient railway traffic.
With residents of the areas adjacent to the railway line in mind, the construction of about 4.3 km of noise barriers has also been planned, which will reduce noise from train traffic. After the modernisation is completed, passenger and freight trains will be able to travel at speeds of up to 120 km/h.
– What matters most in this project are the tangible effects that will be felt by both passengers, residents and carriers: more comfortable platforms, safer crossings, smoother train traffic and less noise near the line. This is a project that will fundamentally change this section of railway for many years. We have many similar projects behind us, so we know well the challenges involved in rebuilding such extensive infrastructure. Once the project is completed, the line will have better technical parameters, and passengers and carriers will be able to use safer, more accessible and more reliable railway infrastructure.
