Kolno Bypass Ready. Trakcja Takes Transit Traffic Out of the Town and Improves Residents’ Safety

We have completed a key road investment in the Podlaskie Voivodeship – the construction of the Kolno bypass along voivodeship road no. 647. The project delivered by Trakcja S.A. is a comprehensive infrastructure investment that takes transit traffic out of the town centre, improving residents’ safety and quality of life.

The new route, nearly 5.6 km long, takes over the heavy goods traffic that has until now run through the town. As a result, traffic volume, noise and exhaust emissions in the town centre will be significantly reduced, and residents will gain a safer and friendlier space for everyday life.

The investment also improves regional connections – it shortens journey times and improves transport accessibility towards Masuria (Mazury) and the Via Baltica corridor, which is of key importance for transport in north-eastern Poland.

The contract was carried out on behalf of the Podlaskie Voivodeship Board (Zarząd Województwa Podlaskiego), represented by the Podlaskie Voivodeship Roads Authority (Podlaski Zarząd Dróg Wojewódzkich). Its value was more than PLN 81 million gross, and the delivery time – 20 months.

The scope of the investment covered the construction of a new road with full accompanying infrastructure – including two engineering structures over the Łabna river, three roundabouts (including the connection to national road no. 63), access roads, pedestrian and cycle paths, and the reconstruction of underground infrastructure and lighting.

During the official opening of the investment, which brought together representatives of local government, the investor and the contractor, the importance of the bypass for the development of the region and for improving residents’ quality of life was stressed. The symbolic ribbon cutting sealed the completion of one of the more important road investments in this part of the voivodeship.

– This is an investment that genuinely changes the daily life of Kolno’s residents. Taking transit traffic out of the centre means greater safety and quality of life. We are pleased that, as Trakcja, we were able to deliver this project in cooperation with the voivodeship self-government – stressed Bartłomiej Cygan, Member of the Management Board, Technical Director of Trakcja S.A., during the ceremony.

The Kolno bypass is another example of the effective use of Trakcja’s competences in the road and bridge segment – a project that permanently organises the town’s transport network and improves living conditions for its residents.

The investment was made possible thanks to good cooperation with partners – the Podlaskie Voivodeship Roads Authority, the Kolno City Office (Urząd Miasta Kolno), the Kolno Commune Office (Urząd Gminy Kolno) and the Municipal Services Company in Kolno (Przedsiębiorstwo Usług Komunalnych w Kolnie).
