Trakcja Group Wins a Contract in Sweden
Trakcja Group has won its first contract in Sweden. For more than SEK 27 million (PLN 13 million), it will build more than 1.5 km of road, a bridge, noise barriers and a number of additional elements of road infrastructure. The contract is a bridgehead for the expansion in Scandinavia announced by Trakcja Group for the coming years.
The tender was announced by the Swedish Transport Administration (the equivalent of PKP PLK S.A. and GDDKiA combined). For the task, the contracting authority had allocated SEK 30 million (SEK 1 = PLN 0.45). The bid, amounting to 92% of the budget, at SEK 27.7 million, was submitted by Kauno Tiltai Sverige (a subsidiary of the Lithuanian part of Trakcja Group) in a consortium with the Swedish company Sandahls grus & asfalt AB. The next of the five bids submitted in the proceedings was more expensive by only PLN 200 thousand. Trakcja Group’s share in the consortium is predominant, at as much as 72%.
Establishing a company in Sweden means that we treat this market very seriously. Scandinavia has enormous potential and can provide us with numerous contracts with attractive margins. Our team, which knows the local market, calculated the bid well. This first contract will make it easier for us to take part in subsequent, larger tenders. We are also analysing submitting bids in railway tenders – says Roman Przybył, President of the Management Board of Trakcja Group.
The scope of the contract includes the construction of a bridge with access roads and two roundabouts, the reconstruction of 1.5 km of road no. 156 Skene – Skoghem in the Göteborg area, and a number of supplementary works, including the construction of noise barriers. The contracting authority anticipates extending the contract to include laying asphalt surfacing on three sections of private roads and the rehabilitation of a gravel road. All work should be completed by 30 May 2016.
