Contracts Signed for the Construction of the S5 Expressway
Trakcja PRKiI S.A. is strengthening its position on the road market. The Company will take part in delivering two of the six sections of the S5 expressway.
In line with earlier announcements, Trakcja Group is expanding its activity on the road market. The total value of contracts in this sector to be delivered in Poland in 2015 is close to PLN 100 million. For more than PLN 286 million net, the Company won a contract for the construction of a section of the S 5 expressway on the Szubin – Jaroszewo stretch, 19.4 km long.
“This year is a breakthrough for us in terms of revenue diversification. In Poland we are increasing income from the road market, while in Lithuania from the railway market – says Jarosław Tomaszewski, President of Trakcja PRKiI S.A. We also have specialist road equipment, and next year we will launch a new asphalt plant. Our engineering staff and a significant part of our machinery potential can be used on both roads and railways.”
The scope of works includes, among other things: the construction of two carriageways of the expressway, each with 2 lanes, the construction of new interchanges and the reconstruction of existing ones consisting in connecting them to the road system being built, and the construction of engineering structures. In addition, pavements, cycle paths and bus bays as well as Rest Areas (Miejsca Obsługi Podróżnych) will be built at designated locations. According to the schedule set by the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA), the design work and obtaining the permits for the investment should enable construction works to begin in 2017.
On the same day, a contract worth PLN 300 million net was also concluded for the construction of a section of the S5 route between the “Aleksandrowo” and “Tryszczyn” interchanges, 14.7 km long. Trakcja PRKiI is a member of the consortium of contractors for this task, which is led by Intercor sp. z o.o.
