Technical Facilities for SKM Trains Ready

Trakcja PRKiI has handed over to the user – SKM Warszawa – the technical and maintenance facilities after comprehensive modernisation.

Under the contract, a 400-metre inspection and repair hall was modernised, and a year-round washing facility, technical facilities and a welfare and office building were built.

The scope of the project also required works in the fields of track, traction, structural and building, power, sanitary and road engineering. The project included, among other things, the installation of nearly 5 km of overhead contact line, the renovation of 6.5 km of outer tracks and 800 m of tracks in the inspection hall, the replacement and renovation of 17 turnouts, and the modernisation of elements of the existing railway traction support structures.

In addition, access roads to the technical base, a car park, a manoeuvring yard and pavements were built. The modernised SKM technical facilities will in future be able to service as many as 50 trains of the Warsaw operator. The contract value was more than PLN 45 million net.

This is not the first investment of this type carried out by Trakcja PRKiI. In 2014 the company completed the construction of the most modern technical facilities in Poland for the trains of Łódź Agglomeration Railway (ŁKA).
