Trakcja S.A. Begins Construction of the Technical Depot of the Łódź Agglomeration Railway
Trakcja S.A. is beginning construction of the Technical Depot of the Łódź Agglomeration Railway (ŁKA) – the most modern service centre for suburban trains in Poland. The facility, being built on an area of 4.5 ha, is located in the immediate vicinity of the Łódź Widzew station.
The complex will host technical inspections, repairs and routine maintenance of modern Flirt-type electric trains. The building of the service and repair hall will feature distinctive styling and a livery consistent with the ŁKA train markings.
Ergonomically designed rolling-stock servicing bays will allow optimal use of vehicle standing time. Repairs, equipment maintenance, and daily washing and cleaning of train interiors will be able to take place at the same time. The technical infrastructure used will stand out for its modernity, functionality and innovative technological solutions. The depot will include several track layouts: a system of automatically controlled turnouts comprising four tracks running through the service and repair hall, two stabling and bypass tracks, and two ending in buffer stops.
The technological solutions used in building the depot will ensure particular protection of the natural environment and the safety of employees. They include, among others: a wastewater pre-treatment plant, separators of harmful substances, a separate sewer system, an energy-efficient building structure with a low heat transfer coefficient, waste management and segregation, as well as noise-reducing solutions.
Trakcja S.A. is the general contractor for this investment, worth PLN 55 million net.
