Trakcja PRKiI Honoured in the “Construction of the Year” 2014 Competition
The construction of the technical depot of the Łódź Agglomeration Railway was awarded in the 25th edition of the “Construction of the Year” competition. The most modern facility in Poland for the maintenance of agglomeration rolling stock was built in just 12 months.
The Category III award was granted by the Polish Association of Civil Engineers and Technicians (Polski Związek Inżynierów i Techników Budownictwa) as part of the 25th edition of the competition, organised under the patronage of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Development (Ministerstwo Infrastruktury i Rozwoju) and the General Office of Building Control (Główny Urząd Nadzoru Budowlanego).
The facility, for which Trakcja PRKiI S.A. was the general contractor, was built next to Łódź Widzew station on a revitalised railway site. The depot consists of four parts: a repair and service section with three tracks, a washing facility, where the fourth track is located, and an office and staff facilities block and a warehouse. The depot is equipped with many modern devices used for the daily servicing and routine repairs of ŁKA trains. The following are located on the individual tracks: an underfloor wheel lathe, a laser station for measuring wheelsets, a wheel load scale, a drop table and a sanding station. The ecological washing facility also carries out such processes as de-icing, toilet waste emptying and water filling.
The cost of building the facility was more than PLN 55.2 million net.
