Works Start on the S5
From Monday 5 June this year, work begins on the construction of the S5 expressway on the Szubin – Jaroszewo section. The consortium of contractors Trakcja PRKiI and Przedsiębiorstwo Usług Technicznych Intercor is starting the first stage of earthworks, consisting of stripping the topsoil, cleaning the drainage ditches and clearing vegetation along the whole section of nearly 20 km.
The whole investment, located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, in Nakło and Żnin counties, in the municipalities of Szubin and Żnin, provides for the construction of:
- two carriageways with two lanes each, 19.3 km long,
- 15 engineering structures, including: 2 expressway overpasses, 6 road overpasses, 3 expressway bridges, 2 road bridges, 2 farm crossings,
- 4 two-level interchanges:
- an interchange at the intersection of the S5 with municipal road no. 091034C, Szubin Północ,
- an interchange at the intersection of the expressway with national road no. 5, Szubin Południe,
- an interchange at the intersection of the S5 with county roads no. 1953C (Wąsosz) and 1946C (Ciężkowo),
- an interchange at the intersection of the S5 with national road no. 5 Gniezno – Brzyskorzystewko.
In addition, facilities will be built for the needs of the Road Maintenance District in Wąsosz (Obwód Utrzymania Drogowego), together with local roads and access roads to land adjacent to the expressway, lighting and noise barriers in selected locations, as well as drainage ditches and retention reservoirs. The works will also require the reconstruction of numerous points of conflict with existing gas, power, sewerage, sanitary and water supply installations.
