We Will Improve Access to the S14 Expressway, Which Means Trakcja Will Stay Longer in the Łódź Region
On 30 November 2023, representatives of Trakcja and the Zarząd Inwestycji Miejskich w Łodzi (Łódź Municipal Investment Board) signed a contract worth PLN 95,638,976.48 gross for the extension and construction of roads near the Aleksandrów Łódzki interchange on the S14.
The works, planned to last 4 years, will improve access to the expressway and streamline transport within the Złotno and Teofilów housing estates. Thanks to the investment, residents will travel on new, smooth roads, along which pedestrian walkways, cycle paths and modern bus stops equipped with electronic passenger information boards will be built.
The contract has been divided into three tasks. The first task is the extension of ul. Rąbieńska on the section from ul. Szczecińska (excluding the junction) to ul. Traktorowa, including the junction, as far as ul. Snopowa, and the extension of ul. Wykowa on the section from ul. Rąbieńska to ul. Kotarbińskiego. The second concerns the construction of ul. Kaczeńcowa on the section from ul. Rąbieńska to ul. Odrowąża. The last task is the construction of ul. Wojska Polskiego from the planned ul. Kaczeńcowa to ul. Traktorowa and the reconstruction of ul. Traktorowa on the section from the planned ul. Wojska Polskiego to ul. Judyma. In total, more than 4 km of roads will be built.
– Łódź and the Łódź Voivodeship are a special place for our projects on the map of Poland. Since 2022 this is already the eighth task delivered by the Road and Bridge Division in this area. The most important are the reconstruction of the road and tram layout along ul. Ogrodowa and ul. Północna, the reconstruction of Plac Wolności and the reconstruction of the water main on Plac Wolności. The next tasks are the extension of ul. Szczecińska and two tasks consisting in the construction of a road layout with technical infrastructure in Łękińsko. Now the eighth task has been added, that is, improving access to the so-called western bypass of Łódź along the S14 expressway and the Aleksandrów Łódzki interchange, formerly Teofilów. – says Artur Szumisz, President of the Management Board of the Company – we plan to start the reconstruction of ul. Rąbieńska from ul. Szczecińska, the delivery of which is at the design stage – adds President Szumisz.
The planned investment in the “design and build” formula includes, among other things:
reconstruction of the carriageway together with a new pavement structure,
reconstruction and construction of junctions as roundabouts with defined geometric parameters,
reconstruction and construction of junctions, pavements, a cycle path or a pedestrian and cycle route
construction of traffic-calming elements in the form of raised junction plateaus and installation of island speed humps,
reconstruction and construction of driveways, bays and bus platforms, and parking spaces,
construction and reconstruction of lighting, the power network and telecommunications ducting.
Street furniture and vertical and horizontal road markings will be installed, and appropriate protection against street noise will be selected and built.
