Illumination of the Józef Piłsudski Bridge in Kraków
The renovated Piłsudski Bridge, which connects Kazimierz and Podgórze, has gained beautiful new illumination. The renewal of the historic structure, built in 1933, took place as part of the reconstruction of the road-and-track layout along ul. Krakowska carried out by Trakcja.
For the illumination of the bridge:
around 16 kilometres of cables were used,
a total of 377 light fittings were suspended,
290 m of LED lighting was installed along the entire underside of the bridge,
4 lighting cabinets were installed, equipped with specially dedicated “drivers” (controllers),
an appropriate lighting control programme was written and commissioned.
The steel structure of the bridge is lit in white, which emphasises the characteristic blue colour of the whole structure. The piers can be lit in multiple colours and, it should be stressed, these colours can be freely chosen by the user. This is possible thanks to the above-mentioned software.
The installation of the bridge’s illumination was one of the key points of the renovation of the crossing, which will be permanently illuminated after dark.
