On 18 November in Vilnius, the Polish Business Awards 2013 were presented in a competition organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Vilnius, held under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Economy Janusz Piechociński. Out of 25 nominations submitted, a Lithuanian-Polish jury selected six winners. This is the second edition of the competition.
The competition aims to reward entities that have achieved success in Polish-Lithuanian economic cooperation and to stimulate friendly business relations. The statuettes were presented, on the Polish side, by Jarosław Czubiński, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Vilnius, and Dariusz Bogdan, Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Economy, and on the Lithuanian side by Algimanta Pabedinskienė, Minister of Labour and Social Policy, and Kestutis Trečiokas, Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Lithuania.
The ceremony, held at the Small Theatre (Teatr Mały) in Vilnius, was also attended by Energy Minister Jaroslav Neverovič and Vladislav Kondratovič, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Lithuania. The winners were selected by an international jury made up of representatives of Polish and Lithuanian business.
Trakcja Group received a statuette in the category “Joint Polish-Lithuanian Project” for its participation in the Rail Baltica project. AB Kauno Tiltai, a Lithuanian company of Trakcja Group, is building the section of the route between Mariampolė and Šeštokai.
The other award winners were: Vilniaus Prekyba Group in the category “Lithuanian investment in Poland” for taking over the Polish retail chain Aldik Nova, Orlen Lietuva in two categories, “Polish Investor in Lithuania” and “CSR – Social Engagement”, and PZU Lietuva in the category “Market Success”. Avia Business Solutions received a statuette for “the rise in the share price of the Lithuanian company on the Warsaw Stock Exchange”. The company is the first Lithuanian entity listed on a foreign stock exchange.
