Diversification of Operations and Revenue Growth

Higher revenue in key segments, diversification of operations and strengthening of potential – these are the most important objectives achieved by Trakcja PRKiI last year.

Trakcja PRKiI recorded sales revenue growth of over 8% in 2016, including nearly 3% in the railway segment and more than twofold in the road sector. The Company successfully launched operations in the energy sector, securing over a dozen contracts and generating more than PLN 26 million in revenue from this segment in its first year. In total, Trakcja PRKiI generated PLN 826 million in sales revenue and achieved a net profit of PLN 28.7 million.

„We passed an important test which the market set for us last year – says Jarosław Tomaszewski, President of the Management Board of Trakcja PRKiI. We made and implemented a number of important decisions strengthening the Company, including carrying out restructuring and rejuvenating our staff, developing the road market and entering the energy segment, and above all strengthening our execution potential for the implementation of the National Railway Programme.

In the past year, Trakcja PRKiI acquired 100% of the shares in Bahn Technik Wrocław, which has a fleet of specialist track machinery, purchased a tamping machine, and also continued the modernisation of its existing equipment, including locomotives.

„We are particularly pleased with the increase in revenue in the railway segment, despite the decline in the value of this market compared to the previous year. Thanks to our new strategy of intensive bidding, we won many smaller projects, previously carried out mainly by smaller companies – adds Jarosław Tomaszewski.

During 2016, the Company signed construction contracts with a total value of PLN 644 million, including works attributable to consortium partners. The Company’s construction order backlog as at 31 December 2016, excluding the portion of revenue attributable to consortium partners, amounted to PLN 796 million. Since the beginning of the year, the Company has already concluded contracts with a total value of more than PLN 400 million. Currently, the total value of offers in tenders in which Trakcja PRKiI submitted the lowest price amounts to nearly PLN 1,500 million.

The revenue of the Trakcja Group in 2016 amounted to PLN 1,381 million and was 4% higher than in the previous year, while net profit increased by nearly 9%, reaching a level of PLN 56.3 million. The Group’s construction order backlog at the end of December 2016, excluding the portion attributable to consortium partners, amounted to PLN 1,201 million. During the past year, companies of the Trakcja Group signed construction contracts with a total value of PLN 911 million, excluding the value of works attributable to consortium partners.

The current order backlog of Trakcja PRKiI and the Trakcja Group as at 31 December 2016 ensures full utilisation of production capacity in the next financial year. Participation in new tenders in 2017 will allow for an even greater degree of securing the contract backlog for subsequent periods.
