Education and Career
Stefan Bekir Assanowicz graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology in 1974, obtaining a master’s degree in civil engineering. He began his professional career at the KOLPROJEKT Design Office in Warsaw, and from 1978 he developed his experience at PRK-15, progressing from construction engineer to Technical Director in the Deep Foundation Branch.
Work Abroad
In 1979–1982 he served as Head of the Bridge Works Group at PEBK DROMEX in Libya. He then continued his career in managerial positions, including Deputy General Director for Technical Affairs and Director of DROMEX Libya, overseeing the markets in Libya and Iraq.
Experience in Poland
After returning to Poland, Stefan Bekir Assanowicz worked as Director of the Africa/Asia Office and Commercial Director at BUDIMEX S.A.
In 1995 he began cooperation with the LAFARGE Group, introducing the company to the Polish market.
In 1999–2007 he served as Vice-President of the Management Board for Development at BUDIMEX S.A., where he led the merger of five construction companies, creating the company BUDIMEX-DROMEX S.A., of which he was President of the Management Board.
Further Professional Achievements
In 2008–2012 he managed ZBM Inwestor Zastępczy S.A., overseeing key road and motorway projects carried out for EURO 2012.
Since 2012 he has run his own consulting firm PROINFRA–EKO.
He also cooperated with the Spanish company Construcciones Rubau S.A., creating RUBAU Polska Sp. z o.o., of which he was President of the Management Board until 2022.
Qualifications and Decorations
He completed postgraduate studies at the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) and a management programme at INSEAD Fontainebleau in France.
He holds third-degree design, construction and mining licences.
He has been decorated, among others, with:
- the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta,
- the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Civil Merit of King Felipe VI of Spain.
Social and Business Activity
He currently serves as:
- Vice-President of the Polish Chamber of Commerce (Krajowa Izba Gospodarcza),
- President of the Council of the Polish-Spanish Chamber of Commerce,
- President of the Management Board of the Mazovian Branch of the Union of Tatars of the Republic of Poland.
He is also a founding member of the Association of Graduates and Friends of the Warsaw University of Technology.
In 2021–2023 he served as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Guatemala in Warsaw.
Foreign Languages
He is fluent in English, French, Spanish and Russian.
