Education and Career
Stefan Bekir Assanowicz graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technologyin 1974, earning a Master of Science in Civil Engineering.
He began his professional career at KOLPROJEKT Design Office in Warsaw and, from 1978, developed his experience at PRK-15, advancing from Site Engineer to Technical Director of the Deep Foundation Division.
International Experience
From 1979 to 1982, he served as Head of the Bridge Works Group at PEBK DROMEX in Libya.
He later continued his career in senior management roles, including Deputy General Director for Technical Affairsand Director of DROMEX Libya, overseeing operations in Libya and Iraq.
Experience in Poland
After returning to Poland, Mr. Assanowicz worked as Director of the Africa/Asia Office and Commercial Directorat BUDIMEX S.A.
In 1995, he began cooperation with the LAFARGE Group, introducing the company to the Polish market.
Between 1999 and 2007, he served as Vice President of the Management Board for Development at BUDIMEX S.A., where he led the merger of five construction companies, forming BUDIMEX-DROMEX S.A., of which he became President of the Management Board.
Further Professional Achievements
From 2008 to 2012, he managed ZBM Inwestor Zastępczy S.A., supervising key road and highway projects carried out for EURO 2012.
Since 2012, he has run his own consulting firm, PROINFRA–EKO.
He also cooperated with the Spanish company Construcciones Rubau S.A., establishing RUBAU Polska Sp. z o.o., where he served as President of the Management Board until 2022.
Qualifications and Honors
He completed postgraduate studies at the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) and a management program at INSEAD Fontainbleau in France.
He holds design, construction, and mining licenses (Level III).
He has been decorated with, among others:
- Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (Krzyż Kawalerski Orderu Odrodzenia Polski)
- Commander’s Cross of the Order of Civil Merit of the King of Spain, Felipe VI
Social and Business Activities
He currently serves as:
- Vice President of the National Chamber of Commerce
- President of the Polish-Spanish Chamber of Commerce Council
- President of the Mazovian Branch of the Union of Tatars of the Republic of Poland
He is also a founding member of the Alumni and Friends Association of the Warsaw University of Technology.
From 2021 to 2023, he served as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Guatemala in Warsaw.
