Following the resolution of the appeal procedure by the National Appeals Chamber (KIO) and then by the court in Warsaw, the most advantageous bid for the extension of tram lines in Olsztyn was selected. On 2 June the investor signed the contract with the contractor for the investment.
The contractor selected as a result of the tender procedure – the consortium of Trakcja S.A. and Polimex – signed on 2 June 2021 a contract with the Olsztyn Municipality (Gmina Olsztyn) for the extension of tram lines in Olsztyn, valued at PLN 403,164,353.11. The contractual completion period for the investment is 26 months, which means that the residents of Olsztyn will be able to use the new lines as early as around August 2023.
The construction and extension will be carried out on fully urbanised and used city streets. The scope of the agreed works will include in particular: construction of a track 6 kilometres long together with the tram traction system; construction of two rectifier substations for tram traction; construction of a flyover approx. 270 m long with a span of 28-39 m, as well as reconstruction of intersections and streets along the route of the tram line.
The contract in question will also include the reconstruction and construction of pavements and cycle paths along the tram line, the reconstruction and construction of public transport stops, bays and platforms with shelters, passenger information and service equipment, as well as the reconstruction and construction of drainage for the streets, the tram track and adjoining areas. Area lighting together with networks and a management system will also be provided. The contractor will also install traffic lights and traffic safety devices.
Representatives of the contracting authority and the consortium members took part in the signing of the contract. Trakcja S.A. was represented by Arkadiusz Arciszewski – Vice-President of the Management Board and Adam Stolarz – Member of the Management Board; “We welcome the final decision of the Court, which confirms that our claims were right and means that today we are concluding a contract that is important for the good development of the local community. We also regard the selection of our bid as evidence of the high competence of our company in municipal investments.” – commented Arkadiusz Arciszewski on the signing of the contract.
