Safety, Reliability, Technology – Trakcja Modernises the Technical Facilities of the Warsaw Metro

Trakcja S.A. has signed a new contract with the Warsaw Metro for the modernisation of traction power supply cabinets at the STP Kabaty depot (Elektrowozownia STP Kabaty) (Elektrowozownia STP Kabaty). It is another joint investment that strengthens the energy security and reliability of the operation of the Warsaw metro.

Under the contract, worth more than PLN 16 million gross, Trakcja will carry out comprehensive construction and installation works, including, among other things, replacement of the cabinets supplying the third rail, construction of a modern UPS room (an emergency power supply system that keeps equipment running in the event of a power outage), and modernisation of the control and communication systems. The project has been divided into four stages and will last until mid-2027.

This is the next stage of Trakcja’s long-standing cooperation with the Warsaw Metro. Our teams have for years been delivering key infrastructure investments for the capital’s operator, providing solutions that meet the highest technical and organisational standards.

The modernisation of the power supply at STP Kabaty is not only an improvement in energy efficiency. It also means:

• increased passenger safety thanks to emergency power supply systems,
• better punctuality and availability of trainsets thanks to a more stable power supply and modern communication systems,
• preparing the infrastructure for the future, including the extension of the line and the introduction of new trains,
• greater automation and digitalisation – the new server rooms will enable integration with intelligent traffic management and predictive diagnostics systems.

The project will use modern technologies that will enable the uninterrupted operation of critical systems and precise monitoring of the infrastructure. It is an investment that fits into the long-term strategy of modernising the technical facilities of the Warsaw Metro.

All works will be carried out on an operating facility, observing the highest standards of safety and organisation. Trakcja’s teams are experienced specialists, holding the necessary certificates and competencies to work at critical infrastructure facilities. Each stage will be carried out with care for quality, timeliness and safety.
