The structure is being built on the railway line with the heaviest traffic in Poland. Work is carried out during the day and during night-time breaks in rail traffic. At the end of June, the most important stages of construction of the viaduct’s load-bearing structure were completed. Road works are being carried out at the same time.
Trakcja PRKiI S.A. is building a road viaduct in Rogów, at the intersection of the Warszawa – Łódź railway line and national road No. 72. The first stage of the project was the construction of an 870-metre detour road with a temporary level crossing, and the partial reconstruction of 809 metres of the national road. Construction work on the viaduct began at the turn of February and March this year. The specific nature of the structure and the geological conditions required the viaduct to be founded on 128 piles with a diameter of 1 metre, set in the ground to a depth of 9.5 m. The load-bearing part consists of 14 prestressed concrete beams, each 17.7 m long and weighing 13.5 tonnes. These elements were placed during two night-time breaks in rail traffic in mid-June. The total length of the viaduct is 48 m, its width – 13.7 m, span length – 17.5 m, width – 13.76 m, vertical clearance 6.3 m, horizontal clearance 16.4 m. These dimensions allow for a carriageway with two lanes, each 3.50 metres wide, and two pavements for pedestrians, each 1.50 metres wide. The scope of works also includes the construction of 630 metres of pavement, two bus bays and a municipal road 480 metres long. The structure will be equipped with a road drainage system consisting of drainage ditches and oil separators.
