AB Kauno Tiltai – a Lithuanian company of Trakcja Group – has received a gold medal in the prestigious “Product of the Year 2014” competition organised by the Lithuanian Confederation of Entrepreneurs. The award was given for the construction of Stage II of the Vilnius western bypass.
AB Kauno Tiltai earned the recognition of the competition jury by handing the investment over for use half a year ahead of the planned date. Since its opening at the end of 2013, the Vilnius western bypass has become one of the most important transport routes both for Vilnius residents and for transit traffic. Building the six-lane arterial road, 2.7 km long, together with associated infrastructure took only 27 months. The total cost of the investment was 163.5 million litas (approx. PLN 205 million).
The gold medal was received from the hands of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania, Algirdas Butkevičius, by the President of the Management Board of AB Kauno Tiltai, Nerijus Eidukevičius. This is already the fifth distinction for AB Kauno Tiltai in the “Product of the Year” competition. The previous ones were awarded:
in 2013 for the efficient and fast – taking only 6 months – delivery of the railway link to Vilnius international airport,
in 2010 for the construction of the longest bridge in Lithuania, 610 metres long,
in 2009 for the reconstruction of the railway tunnel in Kaunas – the most difficult and technically most complex investment ever carried out in the Baltic states,
in 2008 for the falsework of a 380 m long bridge as part of the construction of the Vilnius southern bypass.
