Trakcja PRKiI S.A. to Modernise Section of the Warsaw – Skierniewice Line
A consortium of contractors responsible for the modernisation of the Warsaw – Skierniewice railway line has concluded a subcontract with Trakcja PRKiI S.A. for part of the works, valued at more than PLN 77 million.
The subject of the contract is the execution of track works on a section about 10 kilometres long and of drainage works on a section of about 15 km (drain collectors) and on a 5 km section (reinforced open ditches) on railway line no. 1 between Pruszków and Grodzisk Mazowiecki. The works will also include strengthening of the trackbed by installing cellular confinement system (geocells), gravel-concrete piles, cement grout injection and soil buttresses. The works described in the contract will be completed by 31 December 2014. Work on this section began immediately after the contract was signed. In less than 10 days, more than 5.5 km of track was dismantled.
Trakcja PRKiI S.A. is the largest railway construction company in Poland. It has full in-house delivery capacity, including specialist equipment and a qualified workforce. The company is currently carrying out modernisation and revitalisation works at more than 20 locations on the railway network in Poland, for example on the Kraków – Rzeszów, Wrocław – Poznań and Warsaw – Gdynia lines and at Łódź Widzew station.
