Revitalisation of Two Lines in Silesia

For more than PLN 15 million, Trakcja PRKiI will carry out track works in the Silesian Voivodeship. The works will be carried out on two railway lines. The first task involves the revitalisation of nearly 4 km of track on railway line 168 on the Gliwice – Gliwice Łabędy section, and the replacement of turnouts at the Szobiszowice junction and at Gliwice Łabędy station. In addition, works will be carried out in the fields of electric traction and railway traffic control, as well as the replacement of support structures. The result of the works will be the elimination of spot speed restrictions of 20 – 40 km/h and an increase in train speeds to 80 km/h.

The second task involves the modernisation of track no. 2 on line no. 151 on the Kędzierzyn Koźle – Kuźnia Raciborska section. The works will be carried out on a section of nearly 17 km, where the track infrastructure will be revitalised, 8 turnouts and 1 level crossing will be modernised, and sidings will be restored. After the works are completed, train speeds on individual sections will increase to 60 and 100 km/h.

The works are scheduled for completion at the end of September 2016.
