Trakcja PRKiI Becomes Sole Shareholder of BTW

The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (Urząd Ochrony Konkurencji i Konsumentów, UOKiK) has approved the acquisition of shares in BTW previously held by the German company Leonard Weiss. As a result, Trakcja PRKiI will become the sole owner of the company, in which it previously held half of the shares.

Bahn Technik Wrocław (BTW) was established in 1996 as a joint venture between Przedsiębiorstwo Robót Kolejowych i Inżynieryjnych Wrocław (incorporated into Trakcja PRKiI in 2013) and the German company Leonard Weiss GmbH of Cralsheim. The company carries out welding work on railway and tram tracks, as well as track works using specialist machinery. BTW employs almost 90 people and achieves annual revenue of around PLN 40 million.
The value of the transaction will amount to PLN 21.5 million.

“The acquisition will increase Trakcja Group’s execution potential in the area of track works carried out using high-performance equipment – says Jarosław Tomaszewski, President of Trakcja PRKiI. Taking over the shares from the German shareholder will give us full control over the company and will allow us to achieve greater  synergy in the management of track machinery within the Group. In this way we are also expressing our readiness to implement the National Railway Programme (Krajowy Program Kolejowy), having at our disposal genuine, available execution capacity in our country – certified equipment and Polish operators.”

Trakcja PRKiI currently carries out almost 60 contracts in Poland with a total value of nearly PLN 3.5 billion, the vast  majority of which are railway contracts. The Company is the dominant entity in the Trakcja Group, which is made up of a dozen or so entities, including: the Lithuanian Kauno Tiltai group (infrastructure construction) and the companies: Torprojekt (design), PEUiM Białystok (road works), PDM (construction equipment rental), Dalba (environmental engineering), PRK 7 Nieruchomości (property development).
Total employment in the Trakcja Group reaches 2,000 employees.
