The even side of Małaszewicze Południowe station has been put into service, with a smooth transition to works on the odd side of the station.
Małaszewicze Południowe station is an important part of Małaszewicze Station, part of which is one of the largest so-called dry transshipment ports in Poland and Europe, of international significance. The subject of the works was the reconstruction of the track layout of Małaszewicze Południowe station together with the modernisation of the trackbed, and the construction of drainage, overhead contact line, power engineering, railway traffic control (srk), telecommunications, engineering structures and the erection of a new signal box building. The works covered the modernisation of 11 tracks with a total length of nearly 6 km and the installation of 15 new turnouts. A new two-storey local signal box building has been put into service, which houses, among other things, rooms for train dispatchers with three workstations, computer rooms, a station for a generator set, an SRK switchgear room and UPS, as well as three separate staff rooms with equipment.
The scope of construction works in the railway traffic control (srk) sector included, among other things, the installation of new colour-light signals and track electromagnets, which form part of the train braking system. Under the contract in question, Małaszewicze station will be connected to the remote control system from the LCS Terespol.
Thanks to the modernisation, the speed of passenger trains will rise to 160 km/h and to 120 km/h for freight traffic. The efficiency of utilisation of the railway line will also increase, which will significantly improve the transport offering while reducing infrastructure operating costs. The smooth switching of traffic and the transition of construction works from the even side to the odd side of the station was made possible by intensive work during night-time and round-the-clock track closures.
