Trakcja PRKiI to Renovate the Railway in the Beskids
Trakcja PRKiI has signed a contract worth PLN 349.2 million net for the design and comprehensive modernisation of the railway line on the Bronów – Wisła Głębce section.
“The signed contract is the next one to increase the pool of new contracts concluded on much better terms – says Marcin Lewandowski, President of Trakcja PRKiI. We have been waiting a long time for this contract to be concluded and we already have a complete team, which is immediately starting the design work, and from March next year we want to begin the construction works.”
The investment provides for the reconstruction of tracks together with the trackbed on sections with a total length of more than 40 km, and the installation of railway traffic control equipment and telecommunications systems. The project also includes the replacement of the overhead contact line and the electrification of the decommissioned Goleszów – Cieszyn section. 105 engineering structures will be rebuilt: bridges, viaducts and culverts. As many as 17 platforms will undergo thorough modernisation; these facilities will gain new shelters, small architectural elements and lighting, and will also be adapted to the needs of persons with reduced mobility. As part of further improving the level of safety, 67 level crossings together with pedestrian crossings will be rebuilt.
The investment will contribute to increasing the line capacity and the speed of passenger and freight trains to 120 and 80 km/h respectively, while at the same time reducing the environmental impact. The implementation of the project will contribute to the development of the region’s economic competitiveness and will greatly facilitate travel to the Silesian Beskids for all mountain tourism enthusiasts.
The contract provides for the completion of the investment by the end of 2021.
