On 12 October 2020, representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure and the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA), with the participation of representatives of the Management Board of TRAKCJA S.A. – Leader of the TRAKCJA – INTERCOR Consortium, the contractor responsible for delivering the project, opened a newly built section of the S5 expressway in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. “The successful delivery of this task, despite pandemic restrictions and difficulties, confirms the high competence of TRAKCJA S.A. in road building.
In the face of planned, epoch-making infrastructure undertakings such as the Central Transport Hub (Centralny Port Komunikacyjny), the presence on the domestic market of highly qualified, multi-disciplinary companies like ours is of fundamental importance for the success of these plans” – said Marcin Lewandowski, President of the Management Board of TRAKCJA S.A., commenting on the event.
The task carried out by the consortium of TRAKCJA S.A. and INTERCOR Sp. z o.o. consisted in designing and building the S5 expressway on the sections from the Szubin interchange to the Jaroszewo interchange, about 19.3 km long and worth about PLN 352 million. The completed section is located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, in the Nakło and Żnin counties, in the areas of the municipalities of Żnin and Szubin.
The S5 road is one of the largest infrastructure investments being carried out in the country. The route from south to north will link four agglomerations: Wrocław, Poznań, Bydgoszcz and Gdańsk, becoming one of the roads of fundamental importance for the Polish economy. Previously, Trakcja S.A. was involved in building part of this route, on the Aleksandrowo-Tryszczyn section, opened at the end of 2019.
