TRAKCJA at the Polish-Ukrainian Economic Forum

The visit of the President of Poland and his wife to Ukraine, which had been under way since Sunday, ended on Tuesday evening. It was rich in events and arrangements that may have a considerable impact on relations between the two countries, and it also opened the way to a new economic beginning between Poland and Ukraine. Both sides declared that they would take up this opportunity without delay, as manifested by the event on the last day of the visit.

On Tuesday, President Andrzej Duda and President Volodymyr Zelensky opened the forum “Prospects for Polish-Ukrainian Cooperation: Implementation of Joint Initiatives and Projects in Transport and Energy” in Odessa. Then, in their presence, a cooperation agreement was signed between the ports of Gdańsk and Odessa, the aim of which is to create a new intermodal transport corridor linking the Baltic Sea with the Black Sea.

The serious approach to a new economic beginning in the bilateral relations between the two countries was reflected in the words of the President of Poland, in the context of joint infrastructure undertakings involving the construction of roads, bridges, railway lines and ports, as well as the modernisation of border crossings. The President stressed that without organised, modern infrastructure, one cannot think of mutually effective and beneficial economic cooperation.

Against the background of the President’s words and in line with the purpose of his visit to Ukraine, expert panels were held as part of the event “Prospects for Polish-Ukrainian Cooperation: Implementation of Joint Initiatives and Projects in Transport and Energy”, which had been initiated. In the panel devoted to infrastructure, Wojciech Balczun – Plenipotentiary of the Management Board of TRAKCJA S.A. – took part as one of the speakers.

President Andrzej Duda also took part in a small meeting with entrepreneurs doing business in Ukraine, which was also attended by: Minister of Infrastructure Andrzej Adamczyk, the Ambassador of Poland to Ukraine Bartosz Cichocki, and ministers from the Chancellery of the President. During the meeting, the main issues concerning the operation of companies in Ukraine were discussed. Wojciech Balczun, representing Trakcja Group at the meeting, presented information on the plans of TRAKCJA Ukraina related to the further, intensive development of the business, with the aim of building one of the leading companies in Ukraine.
