On 11 August 2021, with the participation of representatives of PKP PLK S.A. as the contracting authority, Arkadiusz Arciszewski – Vice-President of the Management Board – and Paweł Nogalski – Vice-President of the Management Board – representing Trakcja S.A., acting as the Contractor, signed a contract for the execution of a further order. The contractor, selected through an open tender, undertook to carry out construction works under POIiŚ Project 5.1-11.2 entitled: “Works on railway line no. 7 Warszawa Wschodnia Osobowa – Dorohusk on the Warsaw – Otwock – Dęblin – Lublin section, stage II.
The works on the Warszawa Wschodnia – Warszawa Wawer section will include, in particular, the construction of a new Warszawa Wiatraczna stop near the hospital on ul. Szaserów, and the creation of a new transport interchange, which will improve passenger convenience and safety thanks to additional passages beneath the tracks. The President of the Management Board of PKP PLK S.A., Ireneusz Merchel, indicated that the five new underpasses, part of this investment, will significantly facilitate movement around the railway area and increase the safety of passengers and the local community in general.
Delivery of the investment is intended to contribute to improving suburban and long-distance journeys by providing a four-track layout between Warszawa Wschodnia and Otwock. This solution will increase line capacity and, consequently, increase the number of trains that can run between Warsaw and Lublin and between Warsaw and Otwock. The investment also provides for the installation of modern railway traffic control equipment.
“Trakcja is fully ready to deliver this task on time. We have the appropriate human resources and equipment, and have already secured the materials needed to carry out the works under this order” – said Vice-President Arkadiusz Arciszewski, commenting on the signing of the contract. The value of the contract concluded is PLN 422.4 million net, and its completion deadline is 30 months from the date it was concluded.”
