AB “Kauno tiltai” has won the tender to design and carry out the reconstruction of a transformer substation in Jonava, Lithuania.
The reconstruction of the transformer substation in Jonava, which is important both for the needs of the city and for nearby industry, will begin later this year. The reconstruction will lead to the use of more environmentally friendly technologies, such as replacing bulk-oil circuit breakers with gas-insulated equipment. The reconstruction of the substation will also reduce the number of possible failures and lower the total operating costs.
The 330/110/10 kV transformer substation, which has been operating on the outskirts of Jonava since 1975, is essential for the Achema plant, which operates 24 hours a day and is supplied with electricity by six additional substations via six overhead lines.
The reconstruction of the Jonava transformer substation will be carried out by Kauno tiltai in several stages. In the first stage, within 11 months of signing the contract, the necessary designs will be prepared and a building permit obtained, followed by about 3 years of construction work, the completion of which is planned for the end of 2025.
