Substations for Tramwaje Olsztyńskie commissioned into service

Three traction substations will supply trams with power in Olsztyn. All the facilities were built and equipped with devices manufactured by Trakcja PRKiI S.A.

Later this year, residents of Olsztyn will be able to use this new means of public transport. Trams will return to the streets of the city after 50 years from abandoning their use in 1965. Thus, Olsztyn will become the 15th metropolitan area, whose public transport system will include urban rail transport. The current tram network of the city is composed of the main line with 7,285m-long track and the two branches with lengths of 1,903m and 792 respectively. The overhead lines will be powered from three substations equipped and launched by Trakcja PRKiI S.A.

 

 

 

 

 

Substation equipment includes: 

In the Substation "Obiegowa”: 

• Switchgear RPS 660V- 10 bays 

• Switchgear RPS 17.5kV-7 bays
 

In the Substation "Zajezdnia":

• Switchgear RPS 660V- 8 bays

• Switchgear RPS 17.5kV - 8 bays
 

In the Substation "Sikorskiego":

• Switchgear RPS 660V- 13 bays

• Switchgear RPS 17.5kV - 8 bays

 

The total net value of the work performed under contracts concluded with three companies responsible for the construction of the Olsztyn tram line was nearly PLN 7.5 million. Trakcja PRKiI is a manufacturer of MRT-06 switchgears used in traction substations powering tram lines in such cites as Łódź, Częstochowa, Warsaw and Bydgoszcz.
