The Trakcja Group will build a barrier at the border

Due to the migration crisis on the borders of the European Union, the authorities of the Baltic states, as well as the Polish authorities, decided to build physical barriers on their borders with Belarus to secure the external border of the European Union. The Lithuanian government commission that oversees the installation of a physical barrier on the Lithuanian-Belarusian border approved last Friday the contractors for the construction of the second stage of the fence.

Thanks to the decision of the Lithuanian authorities made on 29 November, AB Kauno Tiltai, a Trakcja Group company, together with its consortium partner, concluded two contracts with UAB "EPSO-G" (an entity partially owned by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Lithuania) on the construction of a physical barrier in the territory of the Republic of Lithuania along the external border of the European Union and services related to the construction, as well as any additional works and services, the necessity of which will become apparent during the implementation of the contracts.

The contracts in question include the construction of two sections of the barrier, 100 km and 70 km. The entire length of the barrier will be almost 400 km. The total net value of the concluded contracts amounts to EUR 33,914,635.73 (PLN 159,337,741.59), of which the amount attributable to AB Kauno Tiltai will be EUR 16,957,317.87 (PLN 79,668,870.82).

The Lithuanian government representatives informed in a press release that companies would start work on the border in December and finish them by September next year.
