We build Via Baltica

Warmińsko-Mazurskie Province voivode has issued a decision, important from our standpoint, concerning a permit for implementation of a road investment along Warmia and Mazury sections of S61 express way. The aforementioned decision includes the section Ełk Południe Wysokie, meaning that the contractor - consortium TRAKCJA S.A., Mostostal Warszawa S.A. and PEUiM Sp. z o.o. - will soon start the construction works.

On October 14, with participation of Rafał Weber - secretary of state in the Ministry of Infrastructure and Arkadiusz Arciszewski - Deputy president of the Board and Technical Director of TRAKCJA S.A., an inauguration of the construction within the scope of the investment task took place.

The scope of the task includes construction of a section of S61 express way of length about 19 kilometres and almost 4-kilometre long section of S16 road with two lanes and service roads. Moreover, selected local roads will be modernized and the environment protection devices built. In relation to the investment in question, over 20 engineering objects will be built including Ełk Wschód junction point. Due to the requirements concerning road load-carrying capacity amounting over 11 tons per axle, the pavement will be made of cement concrete.

The implemented section represents a part of the international route Via Baltica that together with Rail Baltica is an element of the planned trans-European transport corridor and represents the most important road connection between Baltic countries, running from Warsaw, through Lithuania and Latvia to Talin in Estonia. Cost of the task amounts 685.9 million PLN.
